Bay Area’s The Seshan began when singer/lyricist Lalin St. Juste met bassist/producer Akiyoshi Ehara while studying abroad in Ghana. After bonding over their shared love of music the couple moved first to LA, then to Ehara’s hometown of Richmond, CA. Over this period, they began collaborating with one another and building The Seshan’s seven-piece band. The other five integral members are: vocalist Kasha Rockland, drummer Chris Thalmann, keyboard/synth player Mahesh Rao, percussionist Mirza Kopelman, and sampler Kumar Butler. Citing a myriad of influences from Erykah Badu and Jai Paul to James Blake and Radiohead, The Seshan’s sound touches on R&B/soul, 70s dub, hip-hop and synth pop.
