Internationally renowned singer, composer and activist Oumou Sangaré announces the release of Mogoya Remixed with two new reworks courtesy of TWOTEK and Auntie Flo. Well-known in her native Mali and throughout Africa as a performer, champion of women’s rights and business pioneer, after inking a deal with French label, No Format!, she re-entered the studio to break ground on a new album.
After working with French trio A.L.B.E.R.T. (Air, Beck) as her backing band and producers, along with a variety of featured guests on African folk instruments, Mogoya was released in 2017 with the lead single, “Yere Faga,” featuring Afrobeat drumming legend Tony Allen (Fela Kuti). Last year also marked another landmark event for Oumou, who perform on the first ever all-female bill for Later…With Jools Holland and Mount Kimbie’s NTS Radio residency (alongside James Blake & Savages).
On her upcoming Mogoya Remixed, Manchester production duo TWOTEK bring their UK Dancehall, House and Hip-Hop influences to “Fadjamou” and London-based producer Auntie Flo, who has remixed tracks by Chvrches and Crystal Fighters, reimagines “Djoukourou.” Oumou Sangaré’s Mogoya Remixed is slated for release on March 2nd via No Format!.
